Since joining Breakthrough, Lisette Armour has quickly become a valued member of the team, bringing warmth, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for helping people achieve their rehabilitation goals.
As both a Case Manager and Occupational Therapist, Lisette enjoys working alongside clients, families, and professionals to navigate complex situations and find practical solutions that make a real difference. Naturally curious and always keen to learn, she’s someone who enjoys getting to know the people she works with and finding creative ways to overcome the challenges they face.
We caught up with Lisette to find out what drew her to case management, what she enjoys most about the role, and what motivates her every day.
What attracted you to case management?
I really enjoy getting to know people and supporting them over a longer period of time. Case management gives you the opportunity to build relationships, understand what’s important to each person, and help them move towards goals that genuinely matter to them.
I also like that no two cases are ever the same. Every client brings different challenges, and I enjoy stepping back, looking at the bigger picture, and coordinating the right support to help them make progress.
What type of cases do you particularly enjoy working with?
I enjoy working with complex cases where there are lots of different factors to consider. Whether that’s someone living with a brain injury, polytrauma, or a combination of physical, psychological, and social challenges, I find it rewarding to bring all the pieces together.
Often, it’s about helping clients and their families make sense of what’s happening, identifying priorities, and making sure the right people are involved at the right time.
What do you think is most important in a successful rehabilitation journey?
For me, it all comes back to relationships.
Taking the time to listen, understanding what matters to the client, and making sure they feel involved in decisions is so important. Trust doesn’t happen overnight, but when clients know you’re there to support them, it creates a much stronger foundation for rehabilitation.
The best outcomes come when everyone is working towards the same goals, from the client and their family to therapists, healthcare professionals, and support providers.
What’s one thing you hope clients experience when working with you?
I hope they feel supported and know they’re not navigating everything on their own.
Every person’s situation is different, so I always try to be adaptable and responsive to what’s happening in their lives. My aim is to understand what’s important to them, work alongside them, and help them achieve the best outcomes possible.
How would colleagues or clients describe your approach?
I’d hope they’d say I’m approachable, compassionate, and someone who genuinely listens.
I like people to feel comfortable asking questions or raising concerns, and I always try to find practical solutions rather than focusing on the barriers. Rehabilitation isn’t always straightforward, but I believe staying positive, flexible, and working collaboratively helps people move forward.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Definitely the problem-solving.
Every day is different, and I enjoy working through challenges to find solutions that can genuinely improve someone’s quality of life. Whether it’s coordinating services, overcoming a barrier to rehabilitation, or helping someone access the support they need, it’s incredibly rewarding to see those small steps add up over time.
Seeing a client become more confident or regain some independence is one of the best parts of the job.
What might people be surprised to learn about you?
I don’t know if it would necessarily surprise people, but outside of work, I enjoy yoga and mindfulness, which help me switch off and maintain a healthy balance.
I’m also really interested in rehabilitation technology and assistive equipment. I enjoy keeping up to date with new developments and thinking about how they might help clients become more independent in their everyday lives.
